Jungle Book

One of the most overrated pieces of classic literature. It is a collection of stories with anthropomorphic animals, the one with Mowgli being the most well known, hence the countless movie/cartoon adaptations.
What really spoiled my mood while I was reading that book was the part where Mowgli was punished by Bageera for being kidnapped by the apes. I mean, how the hell was it the boy's fault that he was kidnapped? Baloo himself admitted that he should have warned Mowgli about the apes so that he wouldn't have hung out with them in the first place. Very unfair, yet the boy never spoke a word to defend himself!
Anyway, Mowgli's story aside, the rest of the stories were mostly average.
Rating: 6/10

I agree with you on the fact that the Jungle Book is very average.

I wouldn't call it "overrated" because I don't think most people actually rate it very high as literature. It's seen more as fun adventure stories than as thought-provoking literature.
The story of Mowgli and the dholes made me laugh until I cried, although I prefer any of the non-Mowgli stories.

Jungle book is a very classical story. I've grew up seeing few different kind. The Disney version animation and live action and another one that was live action. But I personally have not read the books because I already know what it's about. But All of them were unique in their own way. Maybe over done to some people, but still a good story

I enjoyed the story and will read it to my grand doll as she gets older. I think that it may not ever be considered a classic book, but it is one that many children connect too. The songs from the movie have been sang by many people as well. I can understand you not liking the apes blaming the boy, but is that not a classic sign of bullying, which children seem to deal with in schools these days on a daily basis?

I thought it was lovely. It's a children's book and introduces many people to reading so I think that could only be a good thing.

I love The Jungle Book ever since I was a little girl. It was the best little kids movie and book, it was great to watch and really great to read too because it makes you feel like you are there in the book seeing the Man Cub, monkeys, wolves, the tiger and etc. It I could give it a rating it would be 5/5 stars.

When I think about The Jungle Book, I have a smile on my face and find memories. When I read your comments about the kidnapping, I had an even bigger smile - I still love the book and don't agree with your viewpoint, yet it makes for a good discussion opener.

This story was great, it wasn't something that stood out to me when I read it as a child as there were other stories I enjoyed. I watched the live action movie and it was great. The CGI was well done and probably one of the few movies I prefer over the books.
