Tartuffe

Tartuff by Molière is a story of what a man will go through for his ambitions even at the point of ruining a family. Tartuff is by all accounts a fraud and a con man and yet manages to get out of his situations with his unique oratory. He even goes as far as to state he has divine authority to justify his actions. One of the aspects I like is how ignorant the family of Mariane, the lover of Tartuffe and daughter of Orgon the head of her family can be when it came to Tartuffe 's later actions. Orgon and his wife especially are swayed by Molière's influence. In many instances as mentioned before he mangaes to have some explanation for his actions even going to the point of not only get himself out of trouble, but also vindicating himself and putting blame onto others. However, eventually Tartuffe does not get away. In all it is a good story of 17th century French Literature. Something I would read again.
