Writing style

I think the writing style is good and it does help to make the subject matter a little easier to understand. Unfortunately, it does still come across as dry and difficult to understand in some parts.

I do like Daniel Friedmann's writing style. Presenting difficult topics as a simple conversation with his nephew is definitely a great way to simplify things for the reader.

The narrative style of writing was probably my favorite part of the book. If it would have been written any other way, it might have been too boring for me, and probably too difficult to understand. The writing style and dialogue made me forget from time to time that I was even reading a non-fiction book filled with lots of research.

Yes, it is very well written especially given the amount information it contains. The authors synthesise that information very well, making the book educational and thought-provoking. This is done without making the book read like a complex thesis!

At first, I was biased towards the writing style but reading through the book, I realized it's simpler that way.
Having never read in that format, I would prefer books of this genre in this style. The points are arranged well and the stories help better drive the point home.

I did appreciate the conversation-like writing style. Sometimes, I felt it went in and out (but that's just me.)
However, my view on the writing style is a bit biased because this topic is interesting enough for me that I would read it even in formal writing.

I honestly was annoyed at the writing style. Sure it was refreshing to see something different for a book of this kind of content but it's more of the way the author writes it, sometimes it feels forced and unnatural and it makes me want to cringe

I find the writing style neat, you can easily digest the information being presented by the author. It was really easy to read, and I love how they break up the content into dialog.

I think this is a nice wink for readers. Normally, it is said that if you can explain something to someone in an easy way it means that you understand the topic. Presenting this as a dialogue can help for that. Also, it makes the whole book more accessible because it becomes more interesting.

I liked the dialogue with Seb, but I didn't like the overall writing style. I didn't find it easily accessible, especially not being well versed in Judaism and its traditions.

I think my biggest problem was with the structure: part historical novel, part textbook, it felt too contrived and did little to satisfy my expectations of either genre. The subject matter can be very dense and the book’s structure did nothing to lessen its complexity, jumping back and forth in time without any apparent reason. The flow was continually interrupted by necessary trips to the glossary or to Google.
