Ladilslas Farago's The Game of the Foxes. The history of Germany's Abwher, or spy agency, during WWII under Admiral Canaris.

The book reads as a novel, a good one, but it is non-fiction.

All those suggested by ReadCentral above are excellent choices, too.

"Batavia" by Peter Fitzsimons. An historic, chilling tale about a Dutch East India Company ship, the Batavia, which hit a reef on route toward Australia in 1629. Apart from men, women and children on board, there is a grand treasure, a mutinous crew and a gruesome fight for survival. This hair-raising story unfolds over 502 pages and is all the more enthralling because it is factual.

N.B. This ain't no Errol Flynn or Johnny Depp swashbuckler, folks!

An excellent recommendation for this week could be "Everyone loves you when you're dead" by Neil Strauss.
This book is a detailed research into the psych of the music artists that helped to shape the style of an era and captured the spirit of time with their icon presence. And even more than that, an essay on the craft of persuasion and rapport for the ambitious truth-seekers [tested with some of the roughest minded and deepest sheltered people out there].
Look out for yourself the video "Life Lessons From Rick James" in youtube for a sneak peek.

I like The Sketch Book by Washington Irving。 It won Irving an international fame. It's all about travels and I have to say Irving's words are really beautiful.

The last non-fiction book I read was The Long Ride by Michael Wallis. Its a biography of Billy The Kid, it is fairly new, came out about 5 years ago. It tells things about him that are not in other bios. For instance, it was documented that he only killed two men. Its a good read if you are into history of the old west.

I don't read many nonfictions but I thought 'Manhunt: The 12- Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer' was very entertaining. Although I knew the basic story, characters, and ending it was so well written that it was hard for me to put down. Much of the story was from the perspective of John Booth at least as well as the author, James Swanson, could put together the missing pieces.

I read a good book a while back, The Queen Of The Flattops. Its about the U.S.S. Lexington and The Battle Of The Coral Sea. It was a facinating book, it was written by a war correspondent who was on the ship at that time. I highly recomend it.
