Artificial intelligence is currently a subject of interest far beyond the scientific community. The proliferation of AI services we've seen in recent years made it mainstream. However, that made it difficult to understand what's hype and what are the actual possibilities offered by those services. Demystifying AI for Business Executives, written by Henry Collins and Xavier Taylor II, two authors with great experience in the information technology field, offers a practical guide to harnessing the power of AI to improve your business. Using AI in one's profession is becoming more and more common, so in the future, knowing how to use it will become crucial. Like it or not, it's becoming another instrument you'll be using in your office.

Terms such as chatbots have become popularized thanks to the vast growth of AI services. However, jargon connected to AI can be confusing to people who don't have a technical background. The authors of this book used simple terms to explain AI and added a glossary at its end with definitions for its concepts. The introduction is crucial to help readers understand the real potential of the use of AI in their business.

After this introduction, the authors start providing very practical ideas for implementing the use of AI services in your business. They don't shy away from the possible problems that can arise during that adoption: for example, they specify that executives must work with IT people. They include some real-life cases of companies that already adopted some of those services with success.

If I have to pick a limit in this guide, it's that the applications of AI concern companies of a certain size in which there are executives and an IT department that can take care of technical tasks. If you're a small business owner or a professional working on your own, you might need to learn how to install, configure, and run an AI. To be fair, the book's title mentions business executives, so you can't really fault the authors.

The big merit of this guide is that it offers an overview of AI's capabilities and the possibilities offered to companies to take advantage of AI services. The authors go beyond the hype offering practical ideas to implement AI in a company's operations of various types. Indeed, there are applications that can be suitable for diverse fields. Demystifying AI means understanding the substance behind the hype and recognizing its usefulness. For these reasons, I rate Demystifying AI for Business Executives 5 out of 5 stars. If you're a business executive, this is a must-read. Even if you're not a business executive, this guide offers a good idea of how to take advantage of AI for your job.

Thank you for this review @NetMassimo - this is a topic of special interest for me. If this is a topic that interests you, I'd done a review of a book by Ainsley Hines - "Pioneering Non-Profit AI initiatives - that focused on AI for non-profits here. (https://forums.onlinebookclub.org/viewt ... 4&t=487099). Do check it out when you have some time.

The books we reviewed sort of complete each other, as I reviewed a practival guide to AI adoption in businesses while you reviewed a book about AI in the non-profit that also addresses the ethical side of AI adoption. Nowadays, both books can be very useful for different reasons.Thank you for your comment!

I use AI every day for my work. As a research tool it's saved me countless hours of falling down internet rabbit holes. It sounds like this book is for a specific market (IT executives) who I'm sure will learn a lot from it.

I will definitely be on the lookout for this book because I am interested in learning about AI. I mean, it affects us, too, people who are into literature. Sometimes it is hard to tell AI content from human content. So I think this book will help lift the veil of knowledge about this thing some call a ‘tool’ while others disagree calling it that.
Superb review. Keep up the good work.

The fact that AI mimics humans because it was trained using human-created contents can make it difficult to tell those contents apart. Understanding what AI can and can't do can help. Thank you for your appreciation!

I was first intrigued by AI, and then anxious about it. I soon realized it was unavoidable. The book appeals to me since it discusses AI and demonstrates how to apply it to improve our lives. Being open and accepting the inevitable change in a timely and informed way is better than being anxious and avoiding it and missing the chance to capitalize. Your review has piqued my interest. I will look out for this book. Thanks for your informative and amazing analysis.
