Title: Conquering Obesity, Conquering Mountains

I have always struggled with my weight and find it difficult to stick to a diet, so this book was tempting to review, and I am glad that I did. I opened the book expecting the 'same old, same old' but was pleasantly surprised. Giving up your favourite food is not the answer. The book was compelling and uplifting.
One of the co-authors, Bruce Fam, was himself overweight, unfit, and stressed. In the introduction, he explained that with the mantra of this book, he has lost 28 kg and is fit and happy. The reader will find out that time management is crucial. If this isn't a reason to read on, then I don't know what is.

An interesting fact: two Big Macs contain over 1000 calories, and with one hour of hard swimming, an average person can only burn off half of that.

We read about factors to consider when embarking on this life-changing journey and the six steps to follow to achieve it. It's all about lifestyle and aligning your life with your health. Stress, biological challenges, sleep, hydration, and environmental factors are all contributing factors in this process. Chapter five explains these six steps. There are diagrams to help, and the prose is well-written and easy to understand, and I did not notice any grammatical errors.

Time management is so important, the book explains, and finding micro-moments to stretch, exercise, meditate, or simply close your eyes. Eat healthier food by seeing the big picture and how it will affect you for the rest of your life.

The book was personable and had many good ideas. It isn't about extreme dieting but about being whole and mindful of your body, as it's the only one you'll have.

I would have enjoyed some 'before and after' photos of people who have lost weight.

All in all, I enjoyed the book and recommend it to those who are overweight. I will award five stars out of five.

The emphasis on micro-habits and time management felt empowering rather than overwhelming. Including visual testimonials, such as transformation photos, would have strengthened the emotional connection, but the message remains clear: lasting change begins with mindful, manageable choices.

This sounds like a refreshingly realistic and motivating approach to weight loss. I like that the focus is on lifestyle changes rather than restrictive dieting.
