Any differences?

Post by ashes »

Do you find any differences between reading a book that you can actually physically hold and reading a book on an e-reader? More specifically, does it make you feel a certain way? Does it make things easier? I find that reading on a phone is better when you are reading in bed because you don't need things like flashlights or lamps on while you read. But overall I prefer books because I like actually holding a copy of a book; it makes it more real :3

Give me a real book any day! At first I liked the idea of condensing all my boxes and boxes of books into one small device, but I found I missed holding a real book and switched back. I see a lot of people switching back to real books, too. I was at an airport not long ago and noticed everybody at the gate who was reading was holding a real book. Wahoo! As Harper Lee said on the subject, "Some things should happen on soft pages, not cold metal." Amen!

I normally prefer the feel of a real book in my hands. There is just some thing familiar about the texture of the pages and the ritual of turning the pages. However, I am willing to read a book on my iPad if it is a book I have been waiting to get but can't make it to a bookstore. My iPad just makes it so simple to get the next book in a series I am reading at 2 o'clock in the morning. :D
