I read faster on my kindle I think. Just because I can adjust the amount of light I get. With paperback I feel like I'm always trying to get into a better position for the light.

I read faster with the e-books. My eyes do not tire as easily as with a hard copy. In fact, I can read for hours on my Kindle or phone and I cannot do that with a regular book anymore.

I don't think there is a difference for me. I am a fast reader in general so whether I am holding a book or a phone/iPad I read fast.

I LOVE the feel of having an actual book in my hand (hardcover to be more precise). I just don't have room to have a physical copy of a ton of books. For that reason, I tend to get the Kindle version of my books and read it on my iPad mini. I have not noticed any difference in the amount of time it takes me to read it.

I read e-books much quicker, but I enjoy actually holding a book much more.

Actually I read e-books faster. I don't know why but it's easier and better for me.

I had never really thought about this before I saw your question. I think I read e-books faster. When I read a book I tend to 'savor the flavor' and really concentrate on reading. An e-reader is less emotional of a thing, so I don't get as into the experience.

The only advantage I've found for an e-reader is that old books can be found for it.
Actually my preference for reading is a real paper book held in my hand.

I read a paperback faster, I think It's because I enjoy reading them rather than reading e-books.

Bookworm, I think we're opposite! I read slower because I love them, and you read them faster for the same reason. Funny how things work!

I read them equally fast. I don't prefer one over the other it just depends on my mood. Sometimes I like the sound of physically turning the page and sometimes I love just swiping my finger across the screen. Although I will say I it is easier to keep my place on the e-reader. My kids tend to enjoy taking my bookmarks out of my book and using them for their own. :)

I read paperbacks much faster. I don't have an e-reader, so I read e-books on my computer, which means that the internet is only a click away and I have poor impulse control. I sit down to read and the next thing I know I am watching Netflix or checking my email or here on this forum. That is just what I associate with the computer. When I read a real book, I am in the zone, as it were, and I am mentally prepared to read and only read. I just can't get there with ebooks.

I definitely read paperback faster. I like the feel in my hands and having it physically there, and it hurts my eyes less.

I read paperbacks faster than I do on my Kindle. I do not know why, maybe because I know in my kindle it will always be there saving my page. With the actual book in front of me I feel like it is a challenge, that I need to finish it as fast as I can so I could add it to my collection. But I do sometimes read on my Kindle faster than in the actual book in my hand. If the story is taking off then I just read a whole night non-stop to finish it. It has to keep my interest for me to actually keep going. If it does not then I just loose focus and not finish it as fast. In conclusion I read faster with a paperback because I like the feeling of the challenge.

i tend to read at the same pace whether i'm reading a paperback or on my kindle. i find that i can finish ebooks more quickly, however, because it is sometimes easier to cart the kindle around than it is a book. not that paperbacks are grand in size or weight of course, but i can prop my kindle up on the elliptical machine at the gym, for example, and get in an hour of reading there. if i'm reading in bed and my husband is going to sleep, i will keep on reading on the kindle since i don't need the light on. but given everyday, at home, well-lit conditions, i don't find a difference in speed. :)
