I got the nook hd vs the kindle fire hd because the nook is android powered, so I can get google play apps to read books from my library. The kindle is amazon powered so you can only get amazon apps

I have a nook because it was on a huge Black Friday sale for $30 cheaper than the kindle. Also, I have an iPad but use the nook app if I read on it.

I have a kindle fire and a kindle fire HD and I love both!!! My husband gifted me the Kindle for my birthday! I like reading books on it and also use it to play games and watch movies etc. I have not used a nook but have liked Amazon so it was a no brainer to get a Kindle and I am happy with it.

I have a Nook that I received as a gift for Christmas. I've been very happy with it so far. I do have the Kindle app on my ipad, but I don't use it much. Still, even with both, I generally prefer to read an actual book.

I have a Nook, and it works fine, but in all honesty I wish I'd gotten a Kindle.

The Kindle is smaller, more lightweight, and I'm pretty sure they have a greater selection of books. Don't take me wrong, the Nook is great, but there are times when the little bugger goes haywire. I'd definitely enjoy the plain old black and white Kindle if I had the choice.

I have had both. I originally bought a Nook for my daughter's 5th birthday but she didn't really like it, so I used it for a while and purchased her a Kindle. I didn't really care for the Nook either so I gave it to my mom and purchased myself a kindle. I like the screen on the kindle better it seems more clear and it is easier to operate.

I have a Kindle because I got it as a gift. I have never used or even seen a Nook so I have no opinion about them, but I certainly love my Kindle.

One of the primary reasons I went with a Kindle instead of a Nook is that I just like Amazon better. I've been impressed by their customer service, and I already had a lot of ebooks through their website, so it was a pretty easy decision for me.

I received a Nook for Christmas last year and I love it. I would not have asked for one, and at first I was thinking I would never use it, but now I am addicted to it. I love playing games, using it to check e-mail and Facebook, and using it for reading. I recently downloaded the kindle app so I can purchase amazon kindle books and read them on my nook- it works great! I love my nook.

I have a Kindle because I love Amazon. I enjoy not having to wait to get a book, the cheaper prices, and the ability to read a sample before dedicating myself to a book.

I have had a Nook because I was a B&N Loyalist. However, I belong to several book clubs that advertise free books, and many of them are available on Amazon but aren't on B&N; so I installed the Kindle App on my phone, and started using that as well. The screen is so small though, and that was bothersome. I didn't want to let go of my nook because I have over 500 books on that account and I like to re-read. My solution was buying an IPad. I installed both the Kindle and the Nook Apps. I have access to both accounts. The user friendliness of the apps is not quite the same as the user friendliness of having the actual device, but the reading quality is the same. I'm a happy reader!

I have an ipad and find reading books on that very easy. Getting them from istore easy too

I would not get a separate e reader device like a kindle - my ipad goes everywhere in my bag and can read book or browse internet etc as desired.
I would not want to carry an additional device just for reading books.

I have a Kindle. I bought the original kindle - without backlighting! - early in 2013, and I couldn't stand it. It had internet access, but it seemed so pointless when it was all in black and white and you needed full light to view it. If I wanted to attach a booklight to something, I'd just buy a book!

So, after discovering that I'd sold it, a family member bought me the new one - the kindle fire hd. I can't leave home without it. The battery life is solid, the appstore is restrictive but still overwhelming, and it's lit! It's great. I can read at night without bothering anyway as I did when I read paperbacks, and the ability to change the size of the text is great too. I have pretty poor vision, so it's nice not having to squint at the pages when I just have to know what happens next.
