The Kindle is smaller, more lightweight, and I'm pretty sure they have a greater selection of books. Don't take me wrong, the Nook is great, but there are times when the little bugger goes haywire. I'd definitely enjoy the plain old black and white Kindle if I had the choice.

I would not get a separate e reader device like a kindle - my ipad goes everywhere in my bag and can read book or browse internet etc as desired.
I would not want to carry an additional device just for reading books.

So, after discovering that I'd sold it, a family member bought me the new one - the kindle fire hd. I can't leave home without it. The battery life is solid, the appstore is restrictive but still overwhelming, and it's lit! It's great. I can read at night without bothering anyway as I did when I read paperbacks, and the ability to change the size of the text is great too. I have pretty poor vision, so it's nice not having to squint at the pages when I just have to know what happens next.
