I definitely read slower on my kindle, but I also realised how much I actually skim when reading paper books as opposed to taking in every word... so I think it's good that I'm reading more thoroughly.

If you scroll down a little on the above site, there's an infographic stating people read slower on an e-reader. Whether this is true or not I don't know, but I found it and wanted to share it. Note: the site itself hasn't done this survey, they're just posting the infographic.

I think at least some of that is that while I've always sort of speed-read novels, when it's electronic text I automatically take care to parse every single word; a remnant of years of computer work!

I find that I read a bot more slowly on a device (phone or tablet) than on a printed book. Recall also tends to be worse for me with ebooks. I'm not really sure why, maybe it has something to do with being able to see the physical location of a particular piece of info within a printed book.

I feel as if I read faster while on my kindle. But its all in the mind, logic says its the same amount of words so it shouldn't matter.

I don't think there is any difference in how fast I read on either my Kindle or a regular book. The only difference is that I may finish a book on my Kindle faster than a regular book because its easier to carry my Kindle around in my purse so its more accessible that the current printed book that I may be reading.

With an eBook, you can instantly change the darkness of the lettering or the size of your font. When your eyes feel strained after reading a paper book too long, you have little choice but to stop reading. With an eBook, you can just change the font size and keep going. This is also a great feature for those who need large print books.

Totally ridiculous. lol. What's your own experience with it? Maybe just a learning curve where someone new to digital stuff is still getting use to.

I've made a disovery! :D I've found the way to reconcile paper book reading with e-book reading. Ihave an e-book inserted into a leather casing and when I set out to read I smell the leather and it's something 'live' just like printers ink in a 'live' book. And that makes me happier and comfy :D

That's one of the great features of eBooks, which I also love.

As for reading slowlier on Kindle, I honestly hear it for the first time. I don't read slowlier on my Kindle. But maybe some people need some time to get used to reading on devices.

I never really thought about it before. I do know that I am less distracted on the Kindle. With a real book I find myself looking at the cover and checking how long I have left to read etc.

Yes, that's another point. But maybe it happens with books that don't catch your interest very much.

No with every book I had read I take time between chapters to admire the cover art. And imagine what artist was thinking. I also tried to estimate my reading time. The Kindle does this for me now

I know that it is quicker to change the pages on most models of ereaders so that would cut down time.
When you're wrong, your really wrong. When you're right, you're a pain in my a$$.
