Yes, I prefer reading on the ipad or my computer rather than a physical book. Except for, of course, work related books and other documents that are not available digitally, I read almost everything on my computer or ipad!
Sometimes I wonder that these are very new technologies, & how quickly we adapted to them!

I have not bought a paperback since I received my IPad as a Christmas present at the end of 2011. I love the smell of books. But e-books are so convenient. I don’t have to go to the store and wait for the new release, or pay for shipping and handling. I preorder and that day at midnight my book is waiting on my library. I can read the reviews and suggested books and select another book to start in less than 5 minutes. I can adjust the font, the lighting… I don’t know if they will completely replace paperbacks for all people… I know that they have for me :D

I like the convenience of ebooks but I can't help being sad about the fact that our kids will probably .... Yes, ebooks are replacing the paperback to some extent.

I think that e-books can easily replace paperbacks. The reason why is because they are easier to take care of and you are also saving the planet by not wasting paper goods.

I love the feeling of paper and spine in my hand when I'm reading. Even when I start writing myself, it's usually in a notebook with a pencil or pen. But I respect the ebooks too. I like having an electronic "bookshelf" of items that way in case I do leave my paperbound book on the beach, I can still read it on my computer. That way if I lend my paperback to someone and they don't return it, I will still have it electronically.

So please don't make me feel like I'm cheating on paperbacks!!

:)

I absolutely adore e-books because of the wonderful e-readers that are out now. E-books make traveling so much more convenient for me. I don't have to worry about taking several books with me or having to decide which books to take. I have read so much more books since purchasing my e-reader. My home is more organized because of this as well. However, there are certain traditional books that I simply must own in my library. E-books can never replace paperbacks; they do however, offer an alternative, fun and convenient way to read.

I personally have a Kindle and while I love it and being able to have multiple books on it and check out ebooks from my local library on it, nothing will ever replace the look, the feel, the whole experience of a real book. I like both ways!

With today's technology and trying to minimize space, I think ebooks are the future. Will it replace paperbacks? It could - lots of classic books can be found on ebook versions for cheap or free. There's also ebook rental programs for those who want a quick read and don't want to keep the book forever. Lots of options thanks to today's technology but it's really preference for people - not everyone has adapted into the new technology yet so paperbacks will be around for a long while.

Personally, I love the convenience of the ebook format and am finding myself collecting more of them then ever before. However, for me, physical books are irreplaceable. There is something about the feel of a book in my hands that ebooks and ereaders can never compete with. I will never give up physical books, although my Nook does allow me to read certain books without advertising to those around me. I find this comforting when I'm reading romance novels that tend to have titles that suggest that they are much dirtier than they actually are.

That's defiantly a hard question for me. I have an obsession with my paper books. If I lend one I expect it back ,where my friend is opposite, once she reads something she won't ever reread it and doesn't much care if the book is returned. That being said, I love my iPad to read on. It's convenient to order a book online and get it right now vs. the drive to the store, hoping they have it and the extra cost to buy it. If the book is part of a series and I have the rest in paper than I will finish the series in paper books. Otherwise the price and convenience really does seal the deal for me. So in a sense, I think ebooks have already started the partial replacement process.

I think this will eventually happen. Kids these days are barely familiar with reading let alone paperbacks. In a generation I think paperbacks would become obsolete.

I think we still have a few more generations of paper books before we can even think about them going the way of the typewriter. Too many people still love the feel of a true, old-fashioned book in their hands- even "kids these days."
