I almost always get sick while reading in the car. It's so unfortunate for long trips when all I want to do is huddle in the seat with a good book. I usually just try to suffer through it and read for five minutes then focus on my breathing for ten.

That is so awful! My sister gets carsick, and I'm glad that I don't- I read almost every car ride that I'm not in the drivers seat. My sister always has to sit up front and look outside, so I don't think reading is something that can be done by people who get carsick because your mind has to be able to make sense of the motion by seeing the reason for it.
Sorry :(

I only get motion sick in a car reading on Kindle. If I have a physical book, I do not get sick. I would suggest chewing gum (believe it has already been mentioned) and cracking a window so you get fresh air to breathe.

Nothing works for me. Just last night was a passenger in a car, looked down to check a text and I'm still nauseous this morning! Never could read in the car. My kids can though!

I absolutely love to read where ever I am, but unfortunately when I am in the car, I have to keep my eyes on the road otherwise I get terribly nauseous :(

I get sick after about 5 min reading a paper book, but books don't seem to bother me. I have no clue why.

I'm the same way. My head starts to hurt and I get dizzy. If you have a kindle fire, you could have it read to you. This way you won't have to stare at the screen. I hope this helps!

I get sick reading anything in the car, I think it has something to do with looking down while moving. O thought it was only me (mainly because I'm the only one in my family obsessed with reading haha). But I haven't had Any issues if I hold my phone at like a 90 degree angle and read off my phone.

I have never had a problem with feeling sick while reading anything in a vehicle. I'm not sure why this is, but I can be in the back seat, front seat, doesn't matter. I feel bad for those who do have this problem, because long car trips would be soooo much longer without the ability to read!! My mother must not have this problem either, because I remember as a kid she would read a novel to us on long road trips. I'm sorry that I have no suggestions to counter this issue. :(

Unfortunately, this does happen to me from time to time.

Easily solution: switch to a book on tale for the duration of the ride (using headphones if your accompanying party is not interested in your selection.)

Never used to. When I was a kid I could read in a car all day, and my Dad always said he didn't understand how I could do it. Now that I'm an adult, it happens occasionally. Sorry, I can't help you with a remedy, except of course once it starts, just stop reading and stare at something distant.

I used to love the merry-go-round, too, but now I can't stand it. :)

I don't have this problem really, but I know that sometimes I need to take a break from reading when I've been in the car for a while.

I have always gotten suck reading in a car. It helps me to lay down in the back seat to read. That way I cant see the traffic.

I get car sick pretty easily, so it's never been easy to read in a car. I have found that I can sometimes read when I'm traveling down the interstate for some reason.

Oh yea!!! I also get motion sickness while travailing on a bus or car. I found a secret formula. if you slice a piece of a lemon and slowly sucks while travailing the sickness can be endured..
