Kobo is still the ereader of choice in Canada and making headway in the USA. I'm wondering what kind of penetration it has in this Forum? We have 2 in our house and love the devices.

My cousin has a mini. It's pretty nifty for its price, especially on sale. I like the idea that the letters are formed by actual ink. It's weird though, but it also means that there cannot be any backlighting, which is such a shame. That's the main deal for me, so I'd have to go for a more expensive Kobo...but I just can't justify getting one and would rather get a tablet (this applies to all ebook readers). Unless someone buys it for a gift for me 8)

But yeah, I'm pretty poor right now so that's just my two cents on Kobo for now

I've noticed that a lot of people that use kobos tend to have other electronics for reading.

There are a few reasons that I don't like ereaders altogether. Firstly, because I have a small house and a whole bunch of electronics (lots of chargers everywhere. Secondly, coloured screen ereaders are too expensive. I can buy a tablet for a cheaper price that can do the same thing. Thirdly, most ereaders run on Android OS, so I would rather just buy a tablet and find apps that are ereaders. I understand that ereaders are smaller though, and an Ipad is huge and heavy. They wouldn't be fun for reading.

But I am curious, what Kobo do you have?

I am an avid Kobo user but not the device, I love their book sales site. I tried the original Kobo and it died within hours for me but my hubby could use it for a week or longer. I am one of those people who drain batteries. I moved to an Aluratek Libre Pro and use the Kobo Book sales site for purchasing my stories. That way both my hubby's and my own ereader can be used with their products.
When you're wrong, your really wrong. When you're right, you're a pain in my a$$.

I have a tablet that gave me the Kobo App for Android. I must say it is the most annoying reader app I have ever had. It always auto-rotates, even when you put in the tablet's settings AND the app's settings that you don't want auto correct.
When you lie down with your book, do you want to read sideways? No, you turn your book to orient it the same way (following your eyes, naturally) so you can read in a straight line. I don't want to read it in this weird landscape view when I'm lying down!

End of the rant. I'm just going to download epubs from Kobo (not the app - you have to be online to read your books anyway with the app) and use it on my Aldiko now.

Also, does anyone have a Kobo Mini? My cousin has one and won't read her manual, so it's a mystery to me. Can you change your mini into night mode? I feel like you could, because when you press a button or click on a new book, it briefly has this inverted colour (which makes me a little tetchy, but it's just me). Too bad it doesn't have a backlight. I love reading at night.

Love my Kobo! I've had 2 so far. The very first one, Kobo Vox, which I uses so much it started freezing on me alost 3 years after purchase. Now I have the Kobo H20 and absolutely love it! The only thing that was a downside was that I was use to my first kobo that had rotational screen and it's own stand in the case. The service itself I find very rewarding. Tons of opportunities to get coupons, 3 for the price of 2, weekend sales that can be up to 80% off, and the new VIP rewards programs that is very rewarding for whatever type of reader you are
