Were there any characters you wish had been developed a bit more?

Its Grybald for me too. I mean, it's so obvious. He was one character in this book that really grew on me and I wished more for him.

I kinda wish Greg was included more. I I enjoyed the friendship between Delvin and him. They started this journey together and expected Greg to be more involved. I was happy to see him turn up again at the end.

I don't quite understand Delvin as he had magic at his disposal, yet he was held captive under Princess Jarla's spell. He never tried to escape from her.

I would love to have more of Freda, Delvin's rabbit - in the story she is only a mostly caged animal Delvin carries everywhere and protects her from soup bowls and casseroles. But it all being magic everywhere, it would be fun to read what her take was on the events unfolding around her and maybe even her very rabbity advice to Delvin on what he should and should not do - even conspiring with Delvin on his pranks maybe...

I agree! I found myself intrigued by the very same idea. I hope that Freda is in future books, aiding Delvin in whatever crazy antics he next participates in.

I agree about Grybald! He was a great character but I needed more about him. Also, Borlock seems such an amazing magician. I would love him to have been better developed. I wonder how he got the stone.

I think for me Fionella felt a bit flat, although that could as much be to do with the part she plays in the story. However, I agree with others that more around Freda would have been fun.

Borlock was a character I wish we had learned more about. Although his death moved the story along, more of his backstory would have added depth to the story. Grybald should also have been expanded upon.

I would say Freda, Grimbolt and Borlock. They showed significance in the story.

Grybald is one interesting character but we have seen so many like him in stories of adventure; the brave, strong and cunning companion or hero. I think Borlock would have been mysterious and an interesting character to develop. And as mentioned in this forum, I wish Delvin was developed much more. It feels like both Delvin and Jarla were sharing the leading character position.

I would have liked to read more about more characters like Fionella and Grimbolt. Only Delvin seemed to me to be the best defined character from the point of view of character development, and I think it would have been interesting to read a backstory even for the side characters to better understand their ways of acting and decisions.

For me, it’ll be FREDA! As a pet, Delvin did a lot to protect her. But she could have been much more than that. She could have been a helper, messenger, even villain, just something.

I think the characters were well developed, there weren't much aspects that the book lacked. What I usually see in many books is that either the majn cbaracter is almost the only one with the backstory and aim, or the secondary characters overflow the main ones. I think that the balance was correctly distributed in this book.
