What are some other myths or legends you'd like to see with a modern retelling?

Ayn Cates Sullivan's Nimue was a modern retelling of a legendary character. The story paints a very different picture of the "Lady of the Lake" I originally knew from the legends of King Arthur and the author shows how we might have misunderstood Nimue.

Are there any other myths, legends or characters you'd like to see have a modern retelling?

In China, there are two famous poems written by poets on opposing sides of a war. On one side, the victor of the war wrote a poem about rushing with the wind. On the other side, the war's loser wrote about committing suicide with his girlfriend to escape the pain. I think it might be interesting to take those two poems and create a modern day book about it.

I would like to read a modern retelling of Zeus and Hera. I know that there are many books on modern Greek stories but I haven't yet found a good story about the two of them...

What about Oedipus? I realize that this was written by a very famous an successful author, but I would like to see how all of the intricacies would play out now.

I think a very cool retelling of a myth/legend would be one about the Norse Gods, but NOT in a Marvel Capacity. I would especially like one about Loki - the trickster god, because he is such an interesting entity in Norse mythology.

There are a lot of fascinating stories in Indian Mythology that I would love read the retellings of. For example, there are romantic exploits of Arjuna in Mahabharat that can be turned into a whole series.

I'd like to see a modern version of the King Arthur legend. Imagine Arthur and his knights in a futuristic world, fighting against powerful robots and machines. It would be like a sci-fi action-adventure with a timeless twist.

I absolutely loved Sullivan's fresh take on Nimue! It's always interesting to see legendary characters from a new perspective. I'd personally love to see a modern retelling of the story of Persephone and Hades. It has so much potential to delve into themes of love, power, and transformation. What about you all?

They sound like really interesting poems. They really seem to show you how history is written by the winners. I'd love to know what the poems are called or if there's a translated version?

I absolutely loved this version on Nimue! The way Sullivan merges the old ways with the new is just amazing.

I would personally love to see a modern take on Egyptian mythology. There are so many different great myths that it could become a fantastic series. Or even a modern take on Cleopatra. Ancient Egyptian history is full of magic and mysteries. Someone could make a killing writing a series about the gods and goddess!

Arthurian legends was always fun to be retold. For me, Norse mythology would be awesome. Especially if it focused on Ragnarok. The fight with Leviathan would be epic.

I would be interested in a modern retelling of Hercules and Zeus. I'd also love to see a new version of Poseidon. Perseus and the Gorgon Medusa would also be interesting to see again with a new perspective.

True. There is always Hades and Persephone but never Zeus and Hera. Maybe because they are boring old married couple.
