This is for those who've read the other books in this series-
Would you recommend reading them first, and if so, which one?
Also, how do the other parts compare? Which part is your favorite?

While this book is great as a standalone, it is important to get the backstory. My favorite is the first book. The introduction was classy.

the book Nimue: Freeing Merlin by Ayn Cates Sullivan is a stand-alone novel, and also part of the Legends of the Grail series.The books in the series do not need to be read in order, but all of the legends and folktales interrelate. Therefore, I would recommend reading the other books in the series if you are interested in learning more about the Celtic mythology and Arthurian legend that inspired the author, and how the stories of different goddesses and heroines connect with each other. However, if you only want to read the story of Nimue and Merlin, you can enjoy this book without reading the previous ones.

I enjoy reading books chronologically. If one has acces to the previous books, I would suggest they read them first.

I always prefer read books chronologically for better understanding. If the book can be followed easily and they do not have access to previous books then there is no option left but to proceed. But I personally prefer to read from book 1.

Thanks for this. I would also suggest the same to people because it will help ease flow and understanding.

I thought this book would be fine to read as a standalone. If a reader wanted extra backstory or insight then reading the other books first wouldn't hurt either.

I would recommend that the previous books be read before this one for better understanding. It is better as it helps understanding.

I discovered the earlier ones in the series here. Nimue was not difficult to read; it was a good standalone novel. I'm now curious because a fellow reader suggests that the first book is the best.

I did not find it necessary to read all the books in the series to fully understand this one. In fact, I found out that this was part of a series by almost finishing the book, because you never missed anything from the story of the characters while reading.
Of course, now that I know there is a series I am curious about it, but is not necessary is just for my personal enjoyment.

I don't think it's necessary for people to read the other books first before reading Nimue. The books in the series can be read as standalone novels and chronologically as well. I don't think readers will struggle catching up because the author did a great job of explaining the other supporting characters back stories.

This is nice to know! I love it when a book has an amazing introduction. It is hard to find one these days that hooks you in.

And someone mentioned that the first book is their favourite! If this one is getting you hooked, imagine how much the first one will get you hooked.
