However, I must say that the way the whole situation was handled could have been better. There were a lot of lies, conspiracies, and confusion about it all, which didn't help the situation.Hilda Murithi wrote: ↑24 Jun 2024, 23:52 Yes! So many people died in my country, and I also went down with the virus at some point and got very I'll but recovered. There really was a pandemic.

Context of Excess Deaths: Excess deaths are calculated by comparing the observed number of deaths in a specific period to the expected number based on historical data. Many public health experts have indicated that there was a significant increase in excess deaths in 2020, which they attribute to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Factors Contributing to Mortality: While the primary driver of excess deaths in 2020 was COVID-19, other factors such as delays in medical treatment for non-COVID conditions, increased substance abuse, and mental health crises also contributed to the overall mortality rates.
Comparative Analysis: Peaks in mortality can be influenced by various events, such as severe flu seasons. However, the scale and global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic were unprecedented in recent times, affecting healthcare systems and economies worldwide.
Scientific Consensus: The vast majority of public health experts and institutions, including the CDC and WHO, recognize COVID-19 as a significant global pandemic based on comprehensive data analysis and the widespread impact on health systems.

Going by the definition, there is no doubt that a pandemic did occur.
But what followed was total human generated chaos.

For real! There are some who lost their jobs because of the pandemic and haven't gotten any yet, and there are many who died. However, I think we would have handled it better.
