Vaccines are remarkable inventions that provide a proactive approach to developing immunity against various diseases, bypassing the waiting period for the body's natural immune response. By effectively preventing individuals from contracting diseases, vaccination plays a crucial role in averting epidemics.

I am sixty-three years old. When I was a baby, my parents made sure that I received all of the suggested vaccinations. As a child, I continued to receive them. Thankfully, I never had the measles, small-pox, mumps, polio, tetanus infections, so on and so on. Through my young adult life I intermittently took the flu vaccine, and was vaccinated for hepatitis. I had shingles when I was 34. I would not wish this disease on my worst enemy. As I am older now, I decided to get the Shingles vaccine and booster, because I do not want to have shingles ever again. In spite of all of the brouhaha about the Covid-19 vaccines, I decided to get them. I figured in my whole life I have never questioned getting a vaccine so why should I now ??? I can honestly say that I have not suffered any effects except tiredness one day after the 5 vaccines I received. Lately, I have been getting the flu and Covid-19 vaccines simultaneously. I have always been physically active and I still am. I walk on average 4 miles a day, and do push-ups, rows, curls, chin-ups 3 times per week. So, I don't feel in danger. I am currently reading this book with an open mind. I would never assume that a dedicated doctor and researcher is wrong or intentionally trying to mislead us. There are always truths on both sides of a debate. My experience plus that of my mother, sister, wife, 4 grown up kids and their spouses, 4 grand-children, niece and her husband and son, and my 9 close friends and their kids and grandchildren who are all living without negative effects, tells me that we have nothing to worry about. I lost one friend due to Covid-19 before the vaccines became available. Another friend ended up in a coma and took 3 months to recover. So I would say that No, I don't think that vaccines are neither safe nor effective in regards to my family and friends. But my reality may differ from that of others. I am reading this book with an open mind. it is important to have a debate so that we can get it right for everyone. :tiphat:

I will start by saying that all medicine are poison the difference is the dose and the genetic make up of the individual of course. All vaccines are not the same, some are safer than others.

I think the medical practitioners need to dig more on researching and improving the vaccines to avoid side effects of it

Be it selfish gains, Pharmaceutical companies use vaccines to earn money but still they're doing their part in keeping the world safe from diseases.

I believe vaccines are incredible innovations that play a vital role in preventing the spread of diseases. By receiving a vaccine, your body can develop immunity without having to wait for your natural immune system to respond, significantly reducing the likelihood of contracting the disease. Vaccination not only protects individuals but also helps prevent outbreaks and epidemics, making them a crucial tool in public health.

I am over 60 years old and have recieved vaccines all of my life including 5 COVID-19 vaccines. How sure are we that many of the vaccines back in the day were developed with more care than these ones. 60 years ago there probably were not as many guidelines as there are today. I am not sure about this, but I am making an educated guess. I can only hope that the benefits of receiving the vaccines outweigh the negatives. So far, this seems to be the case for me. That being said, there is nothing wrong with being vigilant and listening to the anti-vaxing point of view. There are valid points to be considered on each side of the debate.

I heard the word "vaccines" for the first time when my little sister was being given her scheduled vaccination. She used to cry like fire alarms. And for the record, we even skipped her measles vaccination. So when she was in kindergarten she complained of a high fever and rashes all over her body. The doctor confirmed it to be measles. She was in pain for 3-4 days and eventually started recovering.

I learnt more about vaccines while studying life sciences. I think vaccines that are tested and have proven effectiveness are safer, especially for those people whose immunity is compromised. On the other hand, when it comes to vaccines that have no record of proven effectiveness should be avoided by persons whose immunity is compromised.

This is, in my opinion, a far more controversial topic than it needs to or should be. I understand why people would be sceptical of something that was developed so quickly with so few studies on it. However, I believe there would be a lot more deaths and diseases present without the use of vaccines!

I find vaccines effective. So many pandemics or epidemics have been ended by them. I will not downplay the potential of vaccines I'm saving the human race
