I found the wise and strong Zix likeable, and his son, Dimitri. They had more depth than Spirit showing all too human good and bad sides. I quite like the family unit of Astaroth, son Zasroth and wife Zandra. All I can think about is Shrek when I read about them!

I agree about Zix's importance. He's the classic mentor figure and in this case, built using the trope of the blind man who's not really impaired nor disabled and in some ways sees even better.

I loved the character Sky. The little firebug is wild and not afraid of anything. She is the unknown element in the story. I am anxious to see what she becomes when she learns to control her aether.

I really loved Zix. I admired his calmness, his supportiveness, and his sense of humor. He was the perfect, wise, and experienced mentor that Spirit needed to teach him how to use aether and hone his fighting abilities. I also thought his wood transformation powers were really cool. I think it was a creative touch to the book because I've never encountered that concept before.

I think I'd also be thrilled to see what Sky does with her abilities to control her aether. As a character depicted in a rather small arena, I can't wait to watch her grow.

I really like Iggy. He is a lot of fun and I hope he causes more explosions in the future!

I liked Zix and his son Dimitri for their depth and complexity. Sky’s fiery and fearless nature intrigued me, and I’m excited to see how she develops with her aether. I also enjoyed Iggy and look forward to more of his explosive moments.

I liked Zix. The old man was Spirit's mentor and trainer. Although he was blind, he was able to train Spirit to use his summoner powers, and, as an aetheren, conserve his aether to be able to perform at the top of his ability. This old man challenged Spirit and taught him to reach his full potential.

I also like Skylar. She is spunky, spontaneous, full of enthusiasm, and vulnerable. She is a good match for Dimitri. The reader never knows what she is going to do next.

There are too many to pick. I loved Astaroth's family and the discussions he had with Zasroth. I really like Taya's influence on Spirit and the group. Zix is wonderful as well as an initial guiding hand.

Two side characters I actually love were Zik and Sky.
