I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the main characters in the storyline. It was heavy on historical knowledge, which I didn’t care for. The characters were well developed and relatable. My favorite part was the mystery portion of this book. Unfortunately, it was at the end of the book. The mystery portion happened fast and the ending left me with more questions. I felt the that all the excitement of the book was in the last chapter of the book. I wish I knew what happened to some of the characters.

I agree with you. In my official review, I mentioned that the book needed another chapter or epilogue. The ending felt rushed, whereas at the beginning of the book, the author took her time developing the characters and the storyline.

I would've loved a 'scandal' breaking out that one of the Von Westerkamp ancestors was black and how they dealt with that.

I really enjoyed reading Deceptive Calm, but if I had to pick something I liked least, I would say that some parts felt a bit slow, especially in the middle. While the suspense and buildup were great, there were moments where the pacing dragged a little before picking up again. That being said, the character development and plot twists made up for it, and I still found the book engaging overall!
