I really believe that loving yourself is essential if you want to love someone else in a meaningful way. When you don’t appreciate yourself, it gets tough to set boundaries or understand your own value, which can make accepting love from others pretty challenging too. There are people who dedicate their lives to helping others, but that doesn’t always mean they truly love themselves—it could be out of obligation, guilt, or a longing for approval.
I think the message from Leviticus is pretty insightful: it’s about finding a balance between loving ourselves and loving others. It clearly indicates that self-love isn’t selfish; in fact, it’s vital. Otherwise, love can turn into dependency or feel like a sacrifice that leads to resentment over time.
