The author structures his arguments around the counterintuitive assertion that love is the reason God allows evil. Specifically, he asserts that the five prerequisites of love explain why God allows the continuance of evil following the fall of man. In Part II of the book, the author uses these five prerequisites as the basis for his solution to the problem of evil. If you read Part II, do you agree with the author’s arguments? Why or why not?

Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen

This is the only book I am aware of that actually provides a comprehensive answer to the problem of evil that aligns with both science and traditional Christian doctrine. As the subtitle to the book indicates, the answer centers on the five prerequisites of love, which are set out in the chapter “God is All-Loving.” Because the problem of evil has so many facets, it takes the entire book for the solution to be fully developed, but it is a powerful and convincing solution in my opinion. For a summary of the key arguments in the book, I recommend reading Online Book Club’s interview with the author: https://forums.onlinebookclub.org/viewt ... p?t=479734

As with anything in this world everything needs balance. Good vs evil. I agree with the author that love is the reason for God allowing evil in this world. He is not a controlling God, but one of choice. He wants his children to choose him not evil. If there were no evil in the world, there would be no choice.

No I don't agree,I will argue that an all-powerful God could allow freedom without so much pain, especially natural evils unrelated to human choice. Whether this justification resonates likely depends on one's beliefs about the nature of God and love.

Only God knows how things are going to work out in the end and He assures us that eventually everything will be good. He has to allow evil in order to give everyone free will. That’s good because He is love.
