The title intrigues me. As for "dumb orphans," why not "homeless orphans" or any other title? Why do the orphans have to be called dumb? I will surely read this book for finding it out. Just hoping it doesn't disappoint me.

I'm not sure I like the title, although I do understand now that the reason behind it is the village's opinion on the children from the book reviews. However, I don't think I would have let my children read a book with such a rude title if I was looking to buy them a book, especially if I didn't know the reason behind it.

Honestly, I found it inappropriate and weird at first. But later I began to see how revealing it is and what depth it carries. Good choice.

Well I think the title is not polite but based on the reviews I have come to find out that this book might actually be worth my time.

At this moment, I haven't started the book yet, but it is on my 'To Be Reviewed' list. My thoughts on the name "Dumb Orphans", in my personal opinion, sounds judgemental. What I mean by it is that just because these kids grew up without parents doesn't make them dumb. They have their reasons for being orphans.

RJ Reviews wrote: 04 Nov 2024, 11:45 While the title may sound rude, it also has a sense of mystery. I imagine readers questioning themselves, "Why ate they being called dumb? Are they really so?" These questions would certain force a few readers to pick up the book. And that is what the goal is. So I will say it serves its purpose.
I agree. I haven't read the book yet. But this is the exact thought process in my mind when I read the title and saw the cover photo. I would like to pick it up soon.

At first glance, the title sounded cheesy, however I had the opposite effect after reading the series. The orphans were underestimated, bullied, abused, stripped of their basic rights, starved, educationally deprived, and more. They fought hard to ensure others did not suffer like they had. Many of the less fortunate individuals could 100% relate with "dumb orphans" as a sort of rallying call. As someone in a discriminated group, when someone rallies for advocacy with a name like that, I embrace that because that title meant hurt for me and so many others like me. Now it means freedom, education, a chance to help others like me. I definitely think dumb orphans is an excellent title knowing the context behind it.

I think the title is slightly offensive on purpose. It immediately gives the reader sympathy for these kids who are considered a drain on society and can’t afford school.

The title at first did not seem intriguing. But when they have looking after themselves for so long, how can they be termed 'dumb'?. However, that's what the villagers called them and it is what will create an eagerness to read the book.

Based on the little the kids had to work with in terms of education and all that, it seems justified.

The title is very captivating and mysterious to a curious reader like me. The first question that came to my mind was, what happened to the orphans? And why use the word 'dumb?'
