Do you feel like "Dumb" Orphans appropriately matched it's intended audience's age?

The description mentions this being a children's book, but the site lists it as being young adult. Despite the fact it's written in a style fit for a 5-7 year old, I personally felt like some of the work choice may have been too complicated for readers of that age. On the other hand, I haven't been around young children in a while, and when I was 5-7 I was reading Anne of Green Gables like the dork I was, so I'm not sure if I have an appropriate frame of reference. Was it just me?

I, too, feel that the intended audience is confusing. It doesn't seem to exactly fit into any category. But it is for sure not appropriate for a 5-7 year old.

Book one is intended for children for sure. But when progressing into Books two and three, it does spark questions. Especially in the third book where the content gets heavy in angst and science. On the whole, it feels appropriate to classify it as a young adult and not a children's book.

I am curious about this as well. I have a child and am considering reading this together with him, but I want to first ensure that it is appropriate for his age and will be enjoyable for him to read.

I feel that as the book progresses, the intended audience should be young adult. Many themes, details and language are too much for ages 5-7. I think it is better suited to older children and young adults, who can fully appreciate it.

Amazon has the age range listed as 8-18. I think 8 makes sense for Books 1 and 2, but Book 3 gets really weighed down and might be harder for that age to read. I have an 8-year-old, and while I think he would like the story of the first two books, the third one wouldn't hold his interest.

No, I feel this book's target audience should be teens or young adults, as it's deeply emotional and may be difficult to explain to a child of 5-8 years as to why they are outcast by their own community. Being a mother of a 7-year-old I would keep this book for her to read at a later stage when she is more mature enough to understand the world and distinguish between right and wrong.

I believe that younger adults would appreciate this more than 5 to 7 year Olds.

The book is written in clear, straightforward language with relatively short sentences. This makes it understandable to younger readers.

I don't think the topic discussed in the book will be be easy for children under 8 or 9 years to understand. I think it is more suitable for young adults not children.

I agree with the general consensus - while it is formatted as a children's book the verbiage and topics both seem a bit advanced for a young reader. I would probably classify this as a young adult book.

I think so because it's not in the children's book category so I don't think it isn't very clear.

May be it's young adult which can be read by parents to kids with minimal information.

I think I was a bit confused on that. I believe it is suitable for children and young teens.

I think it would be better fitted for a slightly older children. I think 4th grade could be an appropriate age.
