What lessons did you learn from "What Did You Do at School Today?" by C.C. Lacavera?

I learned that this question should not be a serious question to ask kids after school. Sometimes adults expect the kids to respond with what they learned about math or science. It was refreshing to see the creative answers that the author came up with. It made this question playful and less serious. The child does not always need to feel pressured to come up with a suitable answer to what they did all day at school. Sometimes, they just want to come home, unwind, and not review their school day. On those days, it's OK to just say "I flew!" instead of "Nothing." It would lead to a more pleasant conversation where the child and adult can pleasantly reconnect after spending school hours apart.

The question itself puts a lot of pressure on the kids. They go to school to learn, but unfortunately they do not learn something new every day. To ask this every day can frustrate children and parents

I learnt the immense importance of asking children about their day at school. It's really essential to stimulate their thoughts and learning at school. Also enhances conversation between parents and children.

Children are amazing and creative. They experiment with many things while in school. I find myself interested in exploring a child's life and conversing with them about the exciting wonders they experience in school. Also, parent-child bonding is an interesting topic for research. The book leaves an optimistic message about a child's academic life and career. As a responsible guardian and parent, I admired the author's creation.

I learned a different way of bonding with my children. I have since invented more questions from the ones in the book.

Kids don’t always need to feel pressured to give a structured answer—sometimes, saying I flew! instead of Nothing makes for a more engaging and enjoyable conversation.

It is a great question to ask a kid but in a naturally curious manner rather than a boring, small talk manner. Participating in the discussion that can arise from this question is a great way to bond with your children.

I learned that it is important to engage with our children, as it is through this that we get to understand what is going on in their lives, just just about school, as in this case, but also in every other aspect of their lives.

I learned that kids should be allowed to be kids. They should not be pressured into being so good so early
