What did you think about the book based only on the title?

I really felt that the title "They Love You Until You Start Thinking for Yourself" perfectly captures what the book is about. It really speaks to Monica Omorodion Swaida’s journey, where she shares her personal experience of the challenges. She shows how to face resistance and misunderstanding—something many of us experienced at some point.
What impacted me was her honesty in revealing how people tend to support you when you fit the mold, but distance themselves when you start thinking for yourself. That is the main correlation between the title and the content, for me. It really makes you reflect on how, so often, we’re shaped by norms and rules that pull us away from our true selves. It left me thinking about how important, yet difficult, it is to stay authentic in a world that often pushes us to just go along with the flow.

I couldn't have thought of a better title, not because it captures what's written by the author, because to a great extent it doesn't. But it is a very catchy title. It's a great conversation starter, so when you see a title like that, you want to see the writer's opinion and air yours. You want to interact with the author through the pages of the book.

I'll be honest, the title of the book is what drew me in. It's the perfect attention grabber and it made me wonder what the author was going to say.

I liked the title and believed it would have topics of narcissism and toxic relationships, and how they affect us. What I didn't expect basis the title is the inclusion of the writer's views on US politics, in great detail.

I can relate to the title. Until I was in college I tended to do what other people thought that I should. I did lose a few friends and had others dislike me since I didn’t do exactly as they said I should anymore.

I like the title, which attracted me to the book. It's interesting that some people have fixed ideas about how others should behave.

Before I started reading the book and solely based on the title, I thought that this story would be a platform used by the author to share her complaints about people trying to bring her down. So far, I have read 5 chapters and am pleased to report that her story has been very positive.

The title of the book is well suited as it covers Monica's journey and experiences as a little child from an average family to her brave decision in immigrating to another country. The book explore her bravery, resilience and weakness.

The title was what attracted me to the book itself. I think it clearly captures the idea of the book.

The title was attention-grabbing - it certainly captured my interest! While I like the book title I don’t think it was a good fit for it. Most of the book revolves around the author’s experiences and views. With a title like this, I expected some commentary about how society views the author’s journey.

I agree with the title, as long as you fit the mold people love you. When you start thinking for yourself, they distance themselves as if they get scared by what they don't recognize. But like Monica, you need to start thinking for yourself, be brave enough to stand out, and do your own thing to succeed.

I first read the title and thought it would be a self help book about relationships.

Title only - this book seems like it will be a book focused on free thinking and the comfortable prison of conformity. Can't wait to dive in and see if I'm right!
