Thank you for sharing, Ruth. Now that you mentioned it, I will have to find the recipe for Shout Hallelujah Potato Salad.Ruth Shirk wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025, 08:07 Oh yes!!! Barbecue chicken is fantastic. It is easy to make a versionn at home. Put awhole chicken, cut up, in a slow cooker. Pour in a bottle of barbecue sauce and let simmer about 6 hours. I have eaten many servings of funeral potatoes. I want to make Shout Hallelujah Potato Salad, but th recipe calls for 18 ingredients.

I got to thinking last night. I was actually in Greenville one time. I was headed to Greensboro, and our plane made an emergency landing in Greenville.

That sounds good and easy, Ruth. I'm going to try it, thanks. I have not been to North Carolina, Gerry, but Susan Camus in 'Bless Your Heart' has taken me there. As Emily Dickinson said, "There is no frigate like a book to take you worlds away."Ruth Shirk wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025, 08:07 Oh yes!!! Barbecue chicken is fantastic. My potato salad is simple, but it calls for celery seed. My sister-inlaw saved me one day from putting in mustard seed instead. The recipe, I suppose, is only as good as the cook. I hope not to eat too many funeral potatoes. It makes the story seem real to me when the people are eating their local foods. It's something I enjoy in a book, and hey, no calories. Bonus!

Hi, Mary. Yes, it is great that books can transport us to places we have never been and leave us with the feeling that we were there. It is a bonus that the delicious food described does not contain calories when we imagine eating it. Have a nice day.Mary Daurio wrote: ↑16 Jun 2025, 09:08That sounds good and easy, Ruth.
