Lucius Shepard

Post by Kosmex5 »

I happened to pick up "Eternity and other stories" by Lucius Shepard in the public library and was instantly hooked. He manages to combine fantasy with a stark realism in a way I've never encountered with other writers.

"Salvador" for instance, is a science fiction story set in a South American jungle during a guerilla war. "Black Jaguar" is another fantastic story influenced by latin american magical realism. "Black Coral" is a strange little tale of a traveler who encounters a hallucinagenic coral on a caribbean vacation.

Open up a Lucius Shepard novel and you'll find yourself falling into a strange new world. I don't know where he get's his ideas but I think you'll find his stories unique, hypnotic, and completely seductive.
