Looking for greek authors

Hello,

I would like to read and do a short analysis of Nikos Kazantzakis' novel, Zorba the Greek, and in order to understand it better I would like to read other books ( from essays to novels, anything ) presenting greek life, greek society with it's simple men, no philosophers or things related to them ...

If you could give me hints of authors which cover this subject, other than Nikos Kazantzakis, please give me some hints.
