I forgot to add this genius to my list. I have all of his books, One Hundred Years of Solitude should be added to all of his books for required reading.

I need to read that one. I've only read Love in the Time of Cholera, but it was absolutely beautiful and his short stories have been highly recommended to me as well.

I've only ever read "Chronicles of a Death Foretold" by Marqeuz. It was quite good though.

i'm currently reading 100 years of solitude. i like the 1st batch of characters in the story. im in the middle of it now and the new characters just seem to fall short compared to the 1st ones. but i have so much faith in marquez and im sure that he won't let me down. besides, it's a noble prize winner. it can't go bad. oh, and i think he introduced people to super realism with this book.

i've read love in the time of cholera which is also a great book. it's way different from 100 years, though, but very good in its own way.

chronicle of a death foretold showed the journalist side of of marquez - well, sort of. it's kind of a confusing story. but i liked how the brothers kept telling everyone what they're gonna do hoping they will be stopped.

anyway, my friend's insisting that marquez had been taking drugs while writing 100 years judging by how weird some of the stuff he described in it.

Loved this book.

He is one of my favorite authors
She made broken look beautiful
and strong look invincible.
She walked with the Universe
on her shoulders and made it
look like a pair of wings.

I live in Colombia. 100 years of Solitude captures some of the magic and mystery of this beautiful country.

I live in Colombia too, one of my favorites by him is "No one writes to the Colonel" (El coronel no tiene quién le escriba), you can feel the angst of García Márquez as he was writing it.

I read a few of his books, 100 years...being my favorite but all other books that I read by him are not even close to 100 years...I know it's just my opinion.
