I am going to have to go with Suzanne Collins because I was hooked on her from the very beginning and so captivated by the world she created and there was just so much original creativity and style in her books that I had never gotten from a book series. J.K. Rowling is an incredibly talented author but I could never get into her books and I tried many times. It just was not for me I like a futuristic mysterious world better than a fake one any day.

Suzanne Collins! I was a fan of J.K Rowling but not now since I have gotten over that children fan thingy and like Suzanne Collins more and her stories!

If I were J.k. Rowling, I would be content at writing Harry Potter rather than the Hunger Games. "Harry Potter" can be considered a classic fantasy in that later authors allude to "Harry Potter" and refer to the book for character and plot development. Furthermore, most series lose popularity after a few books, but that was not the case with "Harry Potter"; readers enjoyed the last book just as much as they enjoyed the first. On the other hand, reviewers often say that "Mockingjay" was a disgrace to the "Hunger Games" series. Even Rowling's story of how she started her successful career is inspirational; she began to write the first book of the "Harry Potter" series on a napkin. Her life exemplifies the rags to riches dilemma.

In style and story structure, I would have to go with Rowling because her literary style fits a lot more into writing books than Collins does. In terms of genres, Rowling kind of just made her mark on Harry Potter and everyone expects her to keep writing fantasy books; Collins, on the other hand, is more varied in her genres. Although it probably might not count, Collins had become famous way before The Hunger Games as a script writer for shows on Nickelodeon, including Clarissa Explains It All and Little Bear, which both counted for children and pre-teens. In the literary area, she has not only written a dystopian series but also a fantasy series, The Underland Chronicles, which is right up Rowling's alley. So one author is good in style, but the other is good in variety of genres.

I don't know if this is an accurate comparison, honestly. Both authors are very talented, but the stories don't share much in common (other than being YA). Also, I'm a bigger fan of JK Rowling, so I can't be fair!

Wow, intriguing question. And hard to answer. J. K. Rowling's world would be an amazing to have thought up, penned down and created. All those magical spells, unique rules about magic and how it works, etc. On the other hand, Suzanne Collin's world is based off of reality TV, like Survivor gone wrong and it challenges the reader to think about society in a different way, or at least it challenged my thinking about the world. I think it might have been a little easier to write Collins books for the simple fact you aren't creating a magical world with laws and rules different from reality. Nevertheless, I think I would have liked to have written the Harry Potter series.

I would chose J.K. Rowlings. I have been a fan of hers since Sorcerers Stone came out so many years ago. She kept the series alive with her magical world of Hogwarts. She captivated young and old audiences with her novels. She didn't play to just the juvenile genre. She wrote for the enjoyment of all ages and for that I salute her.

I think Collins is an excellent writer, but I personally didn't enjoy the plot of The Hunger Games , so I would have to say J.K is the better author for my tastes. As for which series I would rather have written, probably Hunger Games because although there is a big following, I think Collins would have an easier time writing other books than J.K has.

Suzanne is more of a realistic writer. I love that over Rowling's Potter series. Every since that huge time traveling plot hole in Harry Potter, I moved away from the series to Hunger Games. Don't get me wrong, they're both talented writers, I just prefer the realistic approach of The Hunger Games.

J.K. Rowling. The Harry Potter series are amazing, no matter how cliche they are. I don't like The Hunger Games series because it continues the same plot through all 3 books. Each HP book has a new plot and that's would keeps it so interesting. I would pick J.K. Rowling hands down.

J.K. Rowling. Whereas I did like Collins' books, they didn't give me the same thrill as reading the HP series for the first time.

J. K. Rowling. She planned and created an entire world. She developed and wrote characters' back stories. Even though not all her work was written in the final books, she wrote with it in mind.

Without doubt Harry Potter series. There're just so many feelings attached with it. Me and siblings used to have such hardcore discussions about each and every book. We used to hypothetically put ourselves into some of the worse situations mentioned in the book and thought of better ways (using alternate spells) to get out of it. My love for Harry Potter series goes way back.. It is extremely imaginative... I still remember the time spent waiting for the next novel in the series, thinking about the endless possibilities to start and finish off the next book.
Suzanne Collins is also a very prolific author but I would rather be J.K. Rowling.. On a lighter note, 7 books will earn you more money than 3 books!
