Well, it has to be Dan Brown, he's such a terrible writer. His fact checking is non-existant, he writes in such a cliched style my face twists up into knots and it actually causes pain.

The fact that he's popular just goes to show that popular isn't always right. The majority of people eat bad food, pollute the planet and at various times have voted for idiots or psychopaths.

Yay! Someone else doesn't like Steinbeck! To me, Steinbeck's about on par with Theodore Dreiser. Two bores I wouldn't want to party with.

Also, flame me now, but John Updike. Purple writing, convoluted sentences (hell, books), and a barely masked god-complex? Sorry. Not for me. Although I did recently try to read an "erotic" short story he wrote. We were laughing so hysterically we had to leave the bookstore. I wish I remembered which book I saw it in!

But, um...Arab authors? Har har. Naguib Mahfouz is among my favorites (forgot to list him in that thread). Extremely readable and an interesting look into Egypt. Also, Rajaa Alsanea's Girls of Ridayh is light but really interesting too. Makes me wish I knew more.

Danielle Steel and Victoria Holt.

Some people should be banned from writing or better yet cheesy text mass production.

Somehow, Coelho is also less atractive for reading with every new book he writes.

I am reading a book by Phyllis A. Whitney (Star Flight) and am having the HARDEST time getting through it. I don't like the main character and am tired of the dialogue being interupted every other sentence so the author can tell me what totally cheesy thought the main character is having.

Jodi Piccoult...hate her. Her books are depressing, bland and blah!

Mark Twain. Yes, I know he's a classic, but none of his books have entertained me at all. The dialect in the dialogue made it hard to follow and I didn't care for the storylines.

Another would be Cassie Edwards. Read through a bit of one her books recently to kill some time and I seriously wonder how she ever got published. Her writing is cheesy, redundant, and below amateur. I seriously believe I could write a much better book than she can.

I can't stand Lora Leigh. I understand the concept of a romance novel. But the fact that she tried to incorporate a thrilling, mystery, that just got clouded with the constant, repeating "love" scenes got on my nerve. I'm all about a little romance in a novel, or a little story line to a romance, but I felt like I was constantly going back and forth from being on the edge of my seat about who the stalker was, to ooh, Kelly and Rowdy are at it again. It was kind of a like an ADD person wrote the book.

I agree with Stephanie Meyer. Although I have read the first too books, there are some things in my mind that come with vampire novels. They don't walk around during the day and glitter like diamonds!

Agreement with Dan Brown... Da Vinci Code had some entertainment value, then I realized it was 'copy-->paste' with him... :?
