I raced when I was reading Sherlock Holmes. The whole compilation of Conan Doyle in a single week. I started the 1500 pages book one Wednesday and finished reading it the next Wednesday. I really enjoyed the works of Doyle, so I did not want to read other adaptations.

But if you found any adaptation that is almost like Doyle's Holmes please recommend.

I didn't think that I would like Sherlock Holmes books but I started to read them when I was bored as a young stay at home mom. I loved them! They were fast and engaging reads. I am currently loving the Lady Sherlock series of books by Sherry Thomas. It is a great recreation of Sherlock Mysteries with a woman as the Sherlock character.

I think your observations about the shift towards emphasizing Sherlock's eccentricities and romantic life reflect a common trend in modern adaptations, where there's often a push to humanize or add layers to well-known characters, sometimes at the expense of what made them iconic in the first place.

I got introduced to Holmes thanks to the BBC adaptation and later went on to read the books during lockdown. Hounds of Baskerville and the short story with "The Woman" are some of my favourites.

I'm a big fan, tho I personally find myself way more invested in the characters than on the cases themselves. One day I want to watch/play most Sherlock adaptations, but that's mainly to see how they portray Holmes, Watson and their relationship. From what I've seen tho, I feel disappointed at the focus given to Moriarty, is just too played out I feel like.
