What authors living or dead would you invite to your place for a party?

That would depend on whether I'm inviting them for their writing or their personality. Either way, Oscar Wilde would be on the list, as would Neil Gaiman. I'd also like to have Diane Duane and Jane Austen. Not so much a party, perhaps, but a pleasant dinner gathering.

Fitzgerald because he is my soulmate, Hemingway so he'd have a drinking buddy, Shakespeare (or at least the man who wrote the plays, whoever he may be) because he must be fascinating, Hunter S. Thompson to rattle things around a bit, Jane Austen because she's awesome and could be a voice of reason, and then who knows? Maybe I'd just let them invite their friends and see what literary chaos arises!

Off the top of my head, I would invite Hemingway, Tom Robbins, Grisham, Crichton, John D. MacDonald, maybe even Steven King and Patterson. And wouldn't Anne Rice round that out nicely?
