How do you feel about Irvine Welsh?

Post by sofidean »

Irvine Welsh is one my favourite writers but I feel like when talk about his books to my friends or that I like him they just dont seem to like it that much, they think his books are a bit gross, some compare him to Bukowski and other dont believe that a girl like me could like him also hes not so mainstream except for Trainspoiting wich were adapted to a movie by Dany boyle then I feel they only know him for that, I have to say my favs books by him are ecstasy, trainspoting, filth, porn, skagboys .Do you like him? have you ever heard about it?

(english its not my first language so Im sorry if there are too many typos)

This post is ancient so hopefully you get a notice about it or something ? Irvine Welsh is one of my all-time favorites as well. I own all his books, though I still haven't read all of them (mainly the ones set in America). I can certainly understand why people don't like him - some of his books are poorly written and he has a major issue when it comes to writing women. The Sex Lives of Siamese Twins was a marked improvement over his past attempts at writing women but it still had some cringey moments. Still, I love his work and I can't wait for more.

Have you seen the new film adaptation of Filth?
