I was just introduced to this author and I am so impressed! Has anyone read her? She is a british modern author of YA level books that are surprisingly deep. I just finished The Lie Tree which plays off of the Genesis Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil examining the nature of--of course--lies, and how destructive they are but also the nuances of when they blend with truth. This of course is blended with an entertaining page turner spinning mystery, historical fiction, and science fiction. This book won the Costa award last year. Her other recent book Cuckoo Song looks on the cover to be horror (which I dislike) but I've read reviews that it is actually a very provocative look at grief.
