I have read a couple books from the Shadow Children sequence and I recently read her novel Running Out of Time. I was fascinated by anti-utopian stand taken in this novel. The attempt of creating a perfect village in Clifton fell because of the capitalists that owned the land. The owner of the village, Miles Clifton, wanted to perform an experiment to create a strong gene pool. However, this tore the community apart as Jessie left this secluded village and discovered the real world. What do other readers think about the ideas of utopias expressed in her novels?
