Jennifer Crusie

Lately I've been reading a bunch of Jennifer Crusie novels, and I was wondering what people think of her writing. I know the romance genre gets a lot of flack, but I think her books are really funny and for the most part have pretty believable characters. I look at them as the literary version of a romantic comedy. What does everyone else think?

I like Jennifer Crusie books from time to time when I want some 'lighter' reading. The most recent one I read of hers was "Certain Girls". It wasn't one of my favorites of hers, and took a bit of time for me to get into, but ended up enjoying it all the same!

Is she anything like Meg Cabot?

They are AWESOME! I love the ones that she has been co-writing with Bob Mayer. Just finshed Wild Ride which I loved so much I said to DH that I wished I could read it again for the first time!
Also loved Faking it (double crosstics & cocktails!), Welcome to Temptation, Agnes and the Hitman and the new supernatural type ones she has been doing with Eileen Dreyer and Anne Stuart.
Hilarious and spot on wit.

I find her characters funny and they are great light reading books. I went through a Jennifer Cruise phase a few years ago and am thinking of revisiting her books while I take some on-line courses as the books are not too involved.

The only ones I've read are co-written with Bob Mayer... and I love them!

I've collected Crusie for years and now they're re-issuing all her early books that I already have.
I just love her books. They're so much fun to read.
The only Crusie/Mayer book I like is Agnes and the Hitman.

I agree, I am a huge fan of Crusie as a solo author (favorite title is "Bet Me"), and not as big of a fan of her books with Mayer. I appreciate romantic comedies, and she is the funniest contemporary author that I've found. Among historical romance novels, Julie Garwood is hilarious.

I really like her. I just wish they were more PG. Her characters are great though, very funny.

Favorite author of all time. I recommend Agnes and the Hitman at least once a week. Gangsters, Dogs and frying pans oh my!

Last year, I found one of her books and I instantly loved her and read all the books at my library that were written by her! I really enjoyed her books! I would reread them if I had time!

I have only read "Bet Me" by Jennifer Crusie and I absolutely loved it! Good to find so many co readers who love Jennifer Crusie's work!

I love Minerva Dobbs and Calvin Morrisey.

I think you are spot-on with your "romantic comedy" comparison. I love Jennifer Cruisie. I think she is witty and fun. Her books are my go-to when I'm craving a lighthearted book that will allow me to just unwind and enjoy.
