Congratulations on getting the baby girl from the Emerald Isle! Tara. What a beautiful name!
Twenty-six-year-old Tara drops the card and rushes to confront her parents. Finding the note to be the truth, she leaves Connecticut for Ireland to find her family, only to discover death and buried secrets. Her unsatisfactory search brings her home with more questions than answers and into a new adventure - the trial and defense of a priest accused of manslaughter. Here she finds herself entangled in a web of chaos and the arms of the prosecuting attorney, Conor. Now she must find a way to navigate the nuances of her history, her first major case as a lawyer, and a new romance.

I enjoyed Tara Mary Kate Brogan immensely. The beginning alone caught my attention. A twenty-six-year-old discovering she was adopted from a note in the attic piqued my interest and kept me going. I then quickly realized that the author has a wonderful gift for writing imagery. For example, the author writes,
Through the open bedroom window, the late May air carried the scent of newly mown grass from the front lawn.
Many of us have been in a similar position. It made me feel as though I was in the story, which is a big positive for me.

Unfortunately, I felt that the story was a bit rushed at times. The book is under three-hundred pages, making it a quicker read than others but I felt that some moments lacked additional detail. For instance, Tara may be speaking with someone and the conversation is wrapped up quickly so she can do something else.

Additionally, there were numerous grammatical issues throughout the book. Specifically, the author had some difficulty with dialogue. For example, there were moments throughout the book where the author forgets to end the dialogue with a quotation or a quotation could be randomly placed in the sentence. This makes it difficult at times to determine where speaking starts and ends.

Given all of the above, I can only give the book 3 out of 4 stars. The amount of grammatical issues means I cannot give this book a full four stars. That said, I quite enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others who enjoy a good romance novel. Just know that this is an erotic novel and has many explicit scenes. However, those familiar with the genre may also realize that this comes with the territory.

That's one way to celebrate your 26th birthday! This book sounds promising, even though it has some grammatical errors. Thanks for the excellent review!

Certainly not what you'd expect after 26 years! That'd be shocking for anyone! Thanks for the comment.
