The cervical cancer diagnosis was a blow Abby could barely take. What was supposed to be a quick check-up on a nagging pain turned out to be more than she could handle. Everything seemed unreal, and Abby felt like a third party in her life. A few hours back, she was on cloud nine when Logan finally confessed his love for her. She had secretly nursed her feelings for him and diligently played the best friend role. However, in an unexpected moment of romance, they finally confessed their love for each other. Now, the single call from her doctor shattered her plans and happiness.

Logan was equally elated and could not believe it took him that long to realize his true feelings. Ironically, his family and friends always told him that Abby was the woman for him. There was just one task left, to break up with Vanessa, his current girlfriend. However, that seemingly simple task turned into a nightmare when Vanessa claimed she was pregnant by him. A baby was not in his immediate plans, and Vanessa was not the right woman. Everything was happening wrong, and Logan could barely process it all. Oblivious to Abby’s predicament, Logan disappeared in a bid to clear his mind, creating further pain for Abby. How will everything unfold, and what does the future hold for the couple?

Teigen Harper excellently describes each character, enabling the reader to visualize their physical and personality traits. For instance, each member of the Savage family is different, and it is easy to tell. There are also elements of suspense, like when Logan disappears, leaving one to guess what happened to him and his state of mind. In addition, the truth about Vanessa’s pregnancy remains a mystery well into the story. There is also humor and sarcasm, which makes the read engaging.

My favorite aspect is how the story unfolds from Abby and Logan’s perspective. Each chapter is a narration of their thoughts and experiences. This presents two points of view from which to interpret the events. Additionally, every character is related to the two. However, I did not like how fast the story unfolded. It felt rushed and lacked emotions. For instance, Abby’s cancer news did not carry the weight such news typically does. She promptly told everyone who asked, making the situation unreal. I equally did not enjoy the excessive and unnecessary use of heavy profanities.

The editing is professional, evidenced by the few errors I found. The intimate scenes are in explicit descriptions, leaving little for the imagination, making the book suitable for mature readers over eighteen years. The unrealistic nature of the story, coupled with the profanities, made for a distracting read. Therefore, I have to drop a star and give a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. Nevertheless, Logan is a worthy read with an engaging plot. I recommend the book to readers looking for a romance novel with novella-type drama.
