This is a great review! Even though I know nothing of the first book or series I will be adding it to my booklist right away. You gave enough detail to learn about the book but not enough where I felt like I knew everything and didn’t need to read the story. Thanks for the review!

Like you I also prefer to read books from a series in order, it seems in this case it's best to do that. I'll go ahead and start with book 1 then move on to this one. Thanks for the wonderful review.
