Review of Claimed by the Mafia Tankman
This book was the second book in the New York Mafia Series by Kyla Abbott. The first book, My Mobster Baby Daddy, was about Xander and Sedona. This one, Claimed by the Mafia Tankman, was about Rocco and Nora. Rocco works for Xander Scaletta, the Mafia boss of Lost Haven in New York. Rocco was groomed by Xander’s father starting at a young age. He is now a lean, mean fighting machine. Rocco grew up with an abusive father, and one night, after he couldn’t take seeing his mother attacked anymore, he got into an altercation with his father and threatened to kill him. Knowing that he would only hurt his mother more if he did kill his father, he ran away to Don Scaletta’s house. Nora and Sedona are best friends who have been there for each other through thick and thin. Nora is more outgoing than Sedona and more sexually open.
I was anxious to read this book because I enjoyed the first book so much. Although suitable, this book did not meet the expectations of its predecessor. I felt that the first in the series had more depth, excitement, and romance. This ending was happy but predictable. This book has violence, politics, betrayal, domestic abuse, romance, sex, and friendship all rolled into one. It shows that you should always be there for your friends, no matter what. Where you go, I go.
I enjoyed this book, and the only two things that bothered me about it were that it was too predictable and that Xander and Sedona’s little girl’s name changed in this one. In the first book, her name is Alyssa; in this one, her name is Abigail. You might not notice this if you don’t read these books back to back, like I did. I am deducting one star and rating this book 4 out of 5 stars for these reasons. The author’s style is easy to read and understand. The editing of the book was incredible, as I found zero errors. There is profanity, domestic abuse, and sex in this book, so if you are sensitive to any of that, this book isn’t for you. Otherwise, for those who love romance novels, you will enjoy this storyline.
