Icon The Secret by Julie Garwood

Post by Swanangel15 »

Growing up with nothing but lies and deceit made Judith Hampton vow never to return to her cripple, abusive uncle and her cold, unfeeling mother when she returns from the Highlands from helping deliver her best friends' baby.

Ian Maclean has recently become Laird and already had to go up against the elders in order to help his brother fulfill a promise he made to his wife. His promise was to allow an English woman to stay with them for the remainder of his wife's pregnancy.

Since Patrick (Ian's brother) could not make the journey due to his wife being close to her delivery date, Ian took on the task of escorting the English woman to his home, even if it is by force.

When Ian arrived in England his first impression of Judith was that she was very breath taking and that she was not at all what he was expecting. Instead of finding a woman who will deny keeping her promise and tremble in fear of them, he finds a woman more than eager to leave her home and shows no fear what so ever of them.

Judith was mesmerized by the leader of the Highlanders that came to escort her to their homeland and just could not keep her eyes off of him. Her infatuation turned into annoyance however when all he ever did was give orders and expect them to be obeyed.

Not one for obeying orders Judith and Ian finds themselves butting heads one to many times over their journey back to the Highlands, especially with the unwanted attraction that was sprung up between the two.

Read the adventures that occurred with the love story of Judith and Ian and see the "fun times" they have including child births, evil mid-wives and most importantly the secret and what a juicy secret it was.

I simply adore the writings of Julie Garwood, especially her historical romances. She has a way of making me feel frustrated with the characters (mostly the men) with the way they think and act; and she also makes me feel soft and satisfied when they agree and finally realize how stubborn the both of them have been.

I laughed, I cried and I cursed out Ian so much in this book but I just could not dislike him because that was just the way he was. Judith came in the nick of time to change him and make Ian realize the things that he missed when he was growing up. There is really no better cure than love.

Curious about what the secret is, as usual, my advice is that you have to read the book to know what it is; and I am telling you, you would not be disappointed.

I just read this book a few weeks ago. Can now call myself a Garwood fan, the second in the series was just as good!
