Crash by Vanessa Waltz

Post by Lovely_Ink »

I just finished reading Crash by Vanessa Waltz. It is a dark, new adult romance. There's so much I want to say, both good and bad about this book.

First, the book is decently written with not a lot of grammatical or other errors that would distract the reader from following the story. This is huge in this day of self published, poorly edited books. The story itself falls in line with the trend of billionaire romances that have been coming out. Two damaged individuals find each other. One is poor and the hero is a million/billionaire with no real purpose in life until the equally lost, damaged and often-times younger heroine comes into his life. Don't get me wrong; I don't have a problem with this type of story line as long as the timeline moves at a reasonable pace and the actions of the characters seem somewhat realistic.

What I had an issue with in this book is how quickly everything happened. They met one day, went to dinner seemingly a few hours later and suddenly they were in love, working for the same company and instantly entrenched in one another's tragedies. Maybe it's normal for this generation but I couldn't understand how the main characters went from a business arrangement, to the bedroom, to in love in just a matter of days. Even Will, the here on question remarked to his leading lady, Natalie that it had been just a matter of days between "please don't offend my ex" and "I Love You'.

Overall I get the premise of the story and it wasn't bad. The book dealt with real issues that don't just plague young adults. The issues that Will and Natalie faced were huge and I couldn't help feeling sorry for them or wondering how real life people made it day by day in the same situations. For me, the romance and sex were just a bit unrealistic and that's OK. It is, after all, a work of fiction.
