Official Review: Made to Love by Candace Nicole Werts

To be upfront about it, this is not my genre, so part of my challenge in writing this review is separating my opinion of the author’s work and my opinion of the whole genre in general. What it comes down to is what I look for in a book and what erotic novels offer are very different. Yes, they’re very steamy and a few scenes had me quite aroused, but overall I don’t feel a sense of reality from any of the characters. They all seem staged and I can’t imagine any of them walking around in the real world (and the fact that 5 years of marriage having drastically altered my opinion on what it takes to have great sex doesn’t help much).
That being said, when it comes to erotic romance Werts really delivers. The story moves forward with a good plot and a healthy amount of descriptive sexual encounters. Carmen is living the dream life and I can imagine anyone would enjoy switching places with her. She’s confident, successful, and beautiful. Her friends accept her for who she is and who she isn’t. She has a deep, trusting, and loving relationship with her parents and she’s in love with the man of her dreams, not to mention the sex is just earth shattering. Shoot, I’d even have sex with Cooper if it’d be like that (kidding).
Beyond my issues with the genre there are two things that didn’t pass over for me. Part of the initial plot revolves around Cooper’s mother and her friction with Carmen. She’s described as the most devilish of women, but without much explanation has resolved to make amends with her family (husband and son). However, during her turnaround she continues to be horrible towards Carmen. Later on in the story she makes peace with Carmen and all is well, but the reasons for their new relationship were weak and didn’t seem very in line with the mother’s character. This isn’t a crucial part of the story though so can be overlooked. The other issue was the story was highly descriptive. We knew what Carmen and her friends were wearing every scene, from colors and styles to exact brands. I’m sure many would enjoy the description, as I did in the beginning, but it was too much for me as the story moved on.
My official rating is 3 out of 4 stars, but my personal rating would be 2.5 out of 4. As far as erotic romances go I believe it’s well written, but I personally did not enjoy it. For fans of the genre I’m sure it’ll be a great series, especially those interested in a bi-racial and interracial theme.

Thank you for taking the time to read and review my first book Made to Love. I wrote The Made Series for people who love reading erotica romance and it is important for me to feature multicultural characters in a positive light. The world is full of all ethnicities, races and cultures and it is time for them to shine in books.
I am a descriptive writer, I want the readers to be able to visualize every aspect of the book. The Made Series provides intense romance, unbreakable friendships, exquisite fashion, and untold secrets.
Again, thank you for your thoughts and review.

and Candace, I never mentioned, but I'm bi-racial myself so I really enjoyed that part of it.
