Beautiful Oblivion by Jamie McGuire is a great spin-off to Beautiful Disaster. First we are mesmerized in Beautiful Disaster by the gorgeous Travis Maddox and now we get a double dose with his older brother Trenton and the infatuation he has with a local that attends Eastern University named Cami. The story starts out with Cami working at the local bar in town and Trenton hitting on her, but Cami is insistent that she's not taken under his charm because she is currently in a relationship, a long distance relationship with T.J. in California. So, with that information, Trenton starts off slow wanting to be her friend and she obliges especially after seeing a softer side of him, because we all know that the Maddox brothers are known for their fighting. Of course everyone has a story and Cami's is not all peaches and cream, she comes from an abusive home with an alcoholic father, a soft spoken mother, and 4 younger brothers. And we all know Trenton's family history from Beautiful Disaster, but what we don't know about Trenton is that he has never gotten over a car accident that he was in that resulted in him being injured and his then girlfriend being killed and he still has issues dealing with it. He is also a surrogate big brother to his 5-yr old next door neighbor Olive and it makes you just love him even more. Throughout the story line Cami is obsessed with being a perfect girlfriend for T.J. but he doesn't make her a priority, work always comes first and they barely talk or text and when it comes to them spending time together he always cancels. So, what is a girl to do, she spends time with her friend Trenton to keep her mind off things and it feels good when someone puts you as a priority. Trenton helps Cami out by hooking her up with a second job as a receptionist at the tattoo shop he tattoos at. Now they're spending all there time together. Now Cami has a dilemma, she is in love with two people. Trenton is heart broken by the situation, it's no fun being at the sidelines, but he also realizes he rather have her in his life than not at all. We experience all the ups and downs of their relationship, from Cami going back in forth with her feelings and Trenton acting out on his insecurities by sleeping with a number of women to get his mind of the one girl he can't have, the Maddox trademark. I like the fact that Jamie includes some of the characters from Beautiful Disaster and an outsiders view to Beautiful Disaster, because we not only get to know the love story about Travis's older brother but we get to to see Trenton looking in on his younger brother's relationship with Abby and Cami's best friend Hazel and her on/off again boyfriend Jason Brazil, Travis's frat brother that had the role in throwing Abby's birthday party in Beautiful Disaster. This story is full of love triangles and just the beauty of love period, that it can endure all things. I really hope Jamie McGuire continues with these Beautiful series of love with the Maddox brothers and the supporting characters, because I'm telling you it would make one hell of a movie series and I will gladly be the first person in line buying a ticket!!!!!!!
