Review: Mistress to the Beast by Eve Vaughn

Post by Hans08 »

Mistress to the Beast by Eve Vaughn is a modern version of Beauty and the Beast. To someone who loves the classic tale, I’ve definitely already read a number of books inspired from it. Although this book may not be the best one I’ve had the opportunity of reading, it sure doesn’t leave you hanging.

Beauty comes in the form of twenty-seven year old Lila Saunders, a geriatric nurse, who like the original Belle, loves her father dearly. The story revolves around Lila trying to save her father’s home and business from being forcibly bought by the reclusive property developer Hunter Jamison. Hunter, who bears a scarred face due to an accident, propositions Lila to be his mistress in exchange of leaving her father’s property alone.

What the story may lack in creativity, it definitely compensates with its characters. Lila here is a fiery, passionate and very independent woman. Unlike Belle, she’s not soft spoken or graceful. She’s a force to be reckoned with when challenged. Hunter on the other hand is a typical Beast. Hot-tempered, insecure and harsh yet secretly a huge teddy bear inside. Both characters are easy to love.

Steamy scenes in the book are just hot enough to handle. Nothing over the top kinky. Just the right amount of hotness with a side of sweetness.

I rate this book a 3 out of 4 stars as I honestly enjoyed it. Like I said, it may not be the best version, but it was a good read. To Beauty and the Beast lovers there, you may want to give it a try.
