First Review: Paris Time Capsule, By: Ella Carey

Post by melmo17 »

Secret packages, Paris, a handsome stranger, this book has it all. Paris Time Capsule by Ella Carey, will pull you in from the first page all the way to the end. This Romance/Historical fiction will transport you into a world of well-kept secrets and scandalous romance.

In 21st Century New York, Catherine Jordan is living her dreams with a doting, handsome boyfriend, Christian, and a great job as a photographer. Cat has always felt slightly on the outside of Christian's rich and influential world but is thrilled at the idea of officially joining it one day. All seems to be in falling into place for Cat and Christian until one day her life is irrevocably changed by a mysterious package sent from Paris. After learning that she has inherited a very large estate from her grandmother's best friend, Isabelle de Florian, Cat is thrown into her family's past. She soon discovers that her life has been intertwined with a mysterious and strikingly handsome Frenchmen, Loic Archer. Loic is the unknown grandson of the recently deceased and believes that he is to inherit the estate instead of Cat. Cat has no real interest in money or mysterious apartments in Paris, so she is more than relieved to be able to hand over this unexpected responsibility to the rightful heir and return to her life in New York.

However, upon seeing Isabelle's lavishly decorated apartment and learning that she lived a secret life as a high class prostitute, Cat and Loic are determined to uncover the truth about his grandmother's secret life. As the story progresses, Cat and Christian become engaged but is that what she really wants? To fill her life with dinner parties at fancy restaurants and weekends at the Hampton's with enormously rich and self-absorbed people? Or, does she want to immerse herself in French culture with a man who supports her dreams of pursuing her own photography business? Cat is now caught in a love triangle with the man she thought was perfect and the guy who she won't admit is perfect. Despite the indecision between him and the fiancé, Loic still helps Cat search for answers to questions from the past.

This book paints a beautiful picture of Parisian culture and gives its readers a peek into the past of some very interesting women. I was hooked after reading the first sentence. The way in which Ella formed Cat's character, left so much room for the growth and self-realization that took place by the end of the story. She also gave her readers amazing insight into Cat's thought process and her inner struggle when she was making decisions; it made relating to her character easy for me. The story that Ella created in this book is one that will remind people to not let others dictate your choices in life. Do what makes you happy and not what makes others happy.

Paris Time Capsule is an amazing story of secrets, love, and having the courage to follow your heart. I will happily give this title 4 out of 4 stars and I hope whoever reads this next loves it as much as I did!

p.s. Feedback is welcome! This is my first review so please offer any instructive criticism that could help me improve my future reviews. Thanks!
