Going Home To Dixie
By Alicia Dutton

This story by Alicia Dutton has all the great features that I love about the south. Hospitality, truly honest individuals, and yes, great microbrews. My favorite character in the story was Evelyn Wellington the mother of Creighton, who is in his final studies to become a doctor. He arrives home with his future wife “Pamela” not “Pam” and the story surrounds the relationship with his old friends from high school and the people he brings home for them to meet. Dixie who is the mother of Brandy plays a major role, as does the staff of the beauty salon named The High Point of Beauty. Of the many love novels that I have been reading over the last few months this one definitely ranks in the top 3. Alicia Dutton describes the scenery of the south with excellent detail. Showing the reader the view from the porch of the mansion. The sweet tea being the choice of drinks unless you’d like something a little stronger from Fran’s Booze and Bands. The ending of this story will leave you wanting to know more about what happens to the characters that you will meet in this wonderful book. I gave it a solid 5 stars. I look forward to reading many more excellent works by this talented author. She really gives the reader a wonderful afternoon on the porch or an evening looking into the lives of some great character from the south. Like many small towns in the United States everyone knows everyone. There will be characters that you will love, and yes, some that you will not. One of my favorite lines from the story. “What I’ve found is that it isn’t geography which makes you happy. It isn’t the scenery, the history, the museums, and the culture. It’s the people you surround yourself with daily that make you happy.”
