Barrons from The fever series by Karen Marie Moning would be my first and best Alpha I love to read about.
Second would be Ryodan from the fever series again. And lately I've come to enjoy the alpha males portrayed in Cristin Harber's Titan series.

I have to say this is an easy answer hands down my favorite shifters are The Magnus Pack by Shell you Laurentson. She started that out right with Zach Sheridan as the hero and Sarah Morrighan as the heroine.
